Woolwich has been chosen as one of eight locations in which major events will be held this June to remember World War One. Details below in a press release from the BBC.
What a terrible shame that the BBC commemorates the First World War in Woolwich - but that Greenwich Council has shown minimal interest in the rich heritage of the old Arsenal. Firepower will be closing in 2017, the flow of people researching relatives who worked in the factories or served in the Royal Artillery will dry up, and a huge chunk of local history will be lost.
