The Port of London Authority have begun consulting on their plan to change the name of Bugsby's Reach to Waterman's Reach. It's the stretch of the river that goes from the top of the Greenwich Peninsula down its eastern side to Charlton.

As it stands, the PLA intend to make the change at a ceremony in September but are inviting comments. You can read their reason for the change here and also get details on how to send them your comments.

Local councillor and historian Mary Mills recently wrote this article for another site I do about the Thames on why thinks the name should stay as Bugsby's Reach.
