On this day back in 1894, a French anarchist named Martial Bourdin died after accidentally blowing himself to pieces in Greenwich Park. His chemical bomb accidentally went off before he reached his target - the Observatory - and he was taken to the Seamen's Hospital where he expired. The morning papers on the day after just had a line or two with the news and here below is one of the first detailed reports from the evening papers on the 16th Feb.
