The Port of London Authority has issued a notice that says contractors will begin work on the new swing bridge at Deptford Creek on or close to the 11th February.

The new bridge will provide access for pedestrians and cyclists on the Thames path between Millennium Quay and the New Capital Quay development.

The swing bridge at the mouth of the creek was approved by Greenwich Council last summer after earlier plans for a widely-criticised "trapezoidal lattice girder bridge" were revised.

The PLA notice mentions a 9-month timescale for the works.
